I'm American but want to move to Trinidad. What do I have to do?

You may live here and keep your US citizenship. When you come to the island you need to go to the US embassy and register your address. You would then proceed to find a job and your employer would do the necessary paper work for you. If you would like to bring your belongings say a car, you would have to pay duty and vat on the value of your car. Really it is not a hassle to move her, once you are on the island for 3 days you are considered a citizen

go to the American embassy where u live, or a national office, and find out from there, they will proceed information from the American embassy down in Trinidad.

If you want to become a citizen, then you will have to contact their US embassy or consulate and ask them the procedures for applying. Likewise, if you wish to retain your US citizenship and just live there long term, you need to contact them for instructions.
