Port-of-Spain has become a gun-slinging town and if you don’t get out of the way of killers,Gocking’s murder occurred ten days after Nicole Applewhite was fatally shot when gunmen opened fire at a DVD vendor on Independence Square, on Feb 16. week before her killing, Barrath was chopped to death on St Vincent St, near the Port-of-Spain Magistrates Court on Feb 9. Two men Kernel Charles and Davon Walker are to reappear in court this morning for Barrath’s murder, but no one has been held for Applewhite’s killing.The first and last word on an incident such as this is lawlessness and until we realise that law and order are the first requirements of a developed society, then Vision 2020 remains only a vision.There needs to be increased visibility of uniformed policemen and plainclothes officers who mix into the crowds. They need to fast track the installation of more surveillance equipment and fix those that are not working.otherwise Port-of-Shame coming soon to T&T.so sad..................

it's pure ******** **** going down in trinidad it was never like this NEVER and too think innocent by standers getting their as- shot and killed their is alot of absent minded people in trinidad ignoring the reality no matter how much who say sweet sweet t&t my *** nothing is going to fix the crime but a drastic change in gov't and the way they waste hard working people taxes all those who don't wake up and kick yourselves ain't never gonna see what's going on there that's why so many are leaving the criminals are getting like savages now taking anything in sight roger man it seems you are the only one doing your thing keep it up and whoever does not like my opionion you no what to do

Serious talk Roger, why does every single question you post have to deal with crime in Trinidad? Like I said before, we eh dotish, we eh deaf, we eh blind. Nobody denying it have crime in Trinidad (just like everywhere else mind you) and nobody like it but why you feel is your mission to give us the blow by blow whole day, every day boy?



Is that ALL that comes to your mind when you think of home? You doh think about the Northern Range, or the Savannah, or Maracas Bay, or a good stew tambran, a cold Carib, a curry that make yuh lick yuh fingers, some Guiness ice cream, corn soup, or the beautiful colors on the road Carnival Tuesday, or when a David Rudder tune literally touch yuh soul, the sweet sound of pan, seeing our flag fly ANY WHERE.... I could literally do this all day....These are the things I think about when I long for home....



It eh perfect, we get that, but regardless of how many horror stories you post, it eh goh stop the TRUE Trinis from ADORING our country.

Can you believe I'm here in New Haven, CT, working for a hospital, and so far every night there is a crime outside the hotel. The area is very nice but for some reason they want you to remain in the hotel if you are not working.



There was a robbery on Monday, a kidnap (yes a kidnap) on wednesday, and a stabbing on Thursday....



People I really have to leave the states, we. To much random crime. I need to return to sweet T&T.



At least I could go to Crobar for a drink on Thursday night before heading over to 51 for some Soca/Reggae jaming. Oh, losh doh forget Sunday is Maracus beach and bake and shark. Tuesday we in Movie town for drinks, and then off to Atic for Latin Night.



Anybody who want to have a blast and a good night out in T & T send me an email and I'll tell you where to go. It is all SAFE, you will meet great people, enjoy an atmosphere that is enticing to take you away from all the wrong doings of the outside world that Trinidad is sheltered from.

A man who came out of his car in Port of Spain to buy a phone card was abducted by two men and taken to a house, where he was chopped to make him hand over money he did not have. Joel Bahadur, 30, was being treated last night at the Mt Hope Hospital. He told police that around 10.30 p.m. on Thursday, he stopped his car on Picadally Street, Port of Spain, and walked to a vendor to make his purchase.

Two men approached him and pushed him into the back seat and placed a knife at his throat. The car was commandeered while he was tied up and blindfolded.

Bahadur, of Manahambre Road, Princes Town, said he was taken to a house and asked for money. He said during the assault, he escaped the men and ran into the road. It turned out to be an area in Curepe. A female Curepe resident, who requested anonymity, said around 10 a.m yesterday, the frightened man ran into her yard as she was walking out of her Alice Street home. He was covered in blood and his hands were tied behind his back. She said only his eyes were visible as blood covered his entire face. The woman's house is located in a track off of Alice Street, Curepe, near to a big drain. The woman said Bahadur pleaded with her for help, but he did so in a very soft voice for fear of alerting his kidnappers. The startled woman said while she hesitated, the man continued running in search of freedom. Another neighbour eventually saw the man hiding in a nearby pig pen on Sellier Street and called St Joseph police. PCs Gopaul and Perriera responded. They picked up Bahadur and searched the area but did not find the house where he was kept. Bahadur was listed in satisfactory condition last night.
